I would like to pass along to each of you some of the more important topics discussed during the recent NCHA convention. The following was the general consensus from each of the committees : - $20K Non-Pro will remain, it could possibly become an added money class. - $75K Non-Pro will not become a reality. - $10K AM. may become $15K AM. - Qualifying for the Eastern / Western Nationals can be accomplished by money won or by the point system (affiliates choice), must hold 3 shows, and only the top ten from each class qualify (no ties). This will qualify for both entries and eligibility for AQHA alliance. In addition, an affiliate may hold a one day qualifying show (top ten only with no ties), but this will qualify only to enter Nationals, but will not be eligible for the AQHA alliance. - $1,000 limit, added money, for weekend LAE will be determined. - The regions will be revisited, consideration will be given to changes in population, area / region, possible restructure. - Each committee to have a representative from every region. - Horse / Cattle welfare task force formed to address welfare to animal issues. - Current payout system, e.g., $500.00 added classes, etc. was discussed extensively in several committees and majority as well as consensus among directors was change is needed. Unlikely we will see change this year. Please be advised all issues are subject to executive committee approval. The next executive committee meeting will be held in August.
